This student is a second grader applying for an international school abroad.
He studied with us for a short intensive period.
He is enthusiastic, hard-working and keen to improve.
He often practised his interview questions with his parents and siblings.
The admission test was based on a MAP test, writing, and an interview.
So the lessons were split between our specialists for the different parts of this process.
I taught him interview skills.
As we had a very short time, I focused on quick, easy, and large changes.
I identified his tendency to give brief responses to English questions as his main area of improvement.
To help him with this, I showed him ways that he could give more detailed answers, gave him sample questions to practice on, and helped him think of better ways to answer the questions.
As he is quite young, his sentences were quite simple and short.
I gave him a list of ¡°helper questions¡± he could ask himself, once he started asking himself these, his answers got more detailed and grew longer.
He is a hard worker, showing dedication and enthusiasm.
Thanks to his hard work, he was able to secure a place in the school of his choice.
