This student is an elementary school student who studied with me for 3 months.
He had average English skills but aimed to enter an international school.


When we began lessons together, he struggled to ask questions due to shyness.
His maths skills were on par with expectations, unfortunately,
he would get himself lost in his train of thought and make errors by muddling himself.
He had issues with giving extended answers and with creating a coherent line of argument.
However, he engaged well in class and showed enthusiasm to improve.

This student had a series of lessons three times a week with me
where we used textbooks, digital tools, and classroom resources to focus on
his weak spots and direct his home learning.

Interview skills are often an important factor in international school admissions, to this end,
we spent a lot of our time together working on debate,
as this allowed us to improve some of the major English skills he needed simultaneously.
These lessons taught critical thinking, clarity of __expression__, and how to answer complex questions.

We also spent considerable time doing mock interviews and practising ¡°standard¡± questions,
with a focus on his goal schools¡¯ requirements and elaborating on short answers.
As a native speaker, I was able to identify small errors
that he made in his speech (both pronunciation and grammar)
so we could circle back and I could teach him the proper way to express himself.


Over the course of our lessons together this student drastically improved his critical thinking skills,
learning how to follow through with a line of argument, and express an idea clearly.


He was accepted into KIS Jeju thanks to his efforts and focus.
