This student is a grade 4 student applying for an American school abroad.

She is very motivated and often practices her skills with her family.

She studied with us for only a short time, signing up for an intensive course.

In our one-hour session (as she spent the rest of her time with other teachers), I quickly identified that her primary area of improvement was volume, as she frequently spoke too softly to be distinctly heard.

I spent some time in the lesson working on her confidence, making sure that she had good enough answers that she could believe in herself, and for the rest of the lesson we practiced increasing her volume.

The whole lesson changed dynamically to meet her needs and severed a range of interview topics.

She started the lesson being unsure and quiet, but by the end she was able to speak at a normal volume, giving long and detailed answers.

She then went home with the enthusiasm and tools to practice and continue improving.

With this attitude and effort, she was able to get into her school of choice.
